Guimaraes (UNESCO) & Braga Tour
Depart the pier by private van to Guimaraes, known as the "Cradle of Portugal" and in 2012 - the European Capital of Culture. Here, you will visit the Palace of the Dukes and see a spectacular collection of Renaissance pieces and Baroque furniture, Chinese and Indo-Portuguese porcelain, Flemish tapestries and Persian rugs. Nearby, sits the 10th century Guimaraes Castle, the birthplace of Afonso Henriques, the first king of Portugal. Continue the tour to Braga, the capital of Minho province. This city has a remarkable collection of religious architecture that has earned it the title of "Portuguese Rome. " Visit the Bom Jesus do Monte Sanctuary; a magnificent site with chapels, caves, ornaments, decorative furniture and beautiful gardens. After a traditional lunch, head to the Se Cathedral; a Gothic/Renaissance structure founded in 1070 including one of the three Gothic chapels, Capela dos Reis. Afterwards, free time will be available to shop or explore the city center before returning Porto.

Depart the port, hotel or location of choice by private van to Guimaraes where you will visit the Palace of the Dukes and the 10th century Guimaraes Castle and Tower continuing to the historic centre to discover the unique churches, beautiful squares and winding streets. Continue the tour to Braga. Visit Bom Jesus do Monte Sanctuary, the Se Cathedral and historic centre with some free time for shopping and exploring. Your tour concludes upon your return to Porto.
