Douro Valley (UNESCO) Grape Harvest Tour - SEASONAL EVENT!  


Designated UNESCO World Heritage, the wine valleys of the Douro region provide some of the most spectacular scenery in Portugal. Enjoy a once lifetime experience in this magnificent valley, the harvesting and treading of the grapes!   Driving in a private van, the first stop will be the charming town of Amarante, an ancient town filled with fine Romanesque architecture. There you will visit the 16th century Monastery of São Goncalo and a Roman Bridge.   Next in Peso da Regua you will experience an award winning winery, complete with a guided tour. One of the highlights of this tour is participating in the actual hand picking of the grapes prior to an impressive lunch consisting of Portuguese specialties. After lunch, roll up your pants and take part in the traditional grape treading where you will stomp grapes in the cellars with your bare feet, something very special to experience! After your hard work of treading the grapes, you will get you enjoy a tasting of the wines. The wine harvest in the Douro Valley is a once in a lifetime experience, something unlike no other!   Your tour concludes upon your return to Porto.

Amarante, Portugal

Enjoy a leisurely tour in a private van through this magnificent countryside en route to Portugal's wine country for the grape harvest, a once a year event! The first stop will be the charming town of Amarante, there you will visit, the 16th century Monastery of São Goncalo and the Roman Bridge. Next in Peso da Regua you will experience an award winning winery, complete with a guided tour and harvesting of the grapes. Frist, you will pick the grapes, then take a break and enjoy an impressive lunch consisting of Portuguese specialties before returning to the harvest where you will roll up your pants and take part in the traditional grape treading where you will stomp grapes in the cellars with your bare feet.  Your tour concludes upon your return to Porto.

Wear comfortable walking shoes; terrain is uneven with cobblestones.Please bring something comfortable to wear to tread the grapes in (ie. shorts and a t-shirt), these clothes most likely will get stained from the grape juice. You will tread the grapes with your bare feet.

Please inform us as soon as possible if you need to cancel a booking.

  • More than 14 days prior to the tour: 80% refund.
  • 14 to 7 days prior to the tour: 20% refund.
  • Less than 7 days: No refund*.

*Note: If travelling on a cruise ship which does not dock for some reason, a full refund will be made.
